JKEDI Bandipora Conducts Startup Idea Challenge 2.0 Boot Camp at HKM Degree College

Bandipora, September 16: The District Centre of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Bandipora, conducted a Boot Camp under the Startup Idea Challenge 2.0 at Government Hassan Khoyihami Memorial (HKM) Degree College, Bandipora, on Wednesday.

 

More than 150 students participated in the event, which aimed to promote entrepreneurship and startup culture among young students.

 

In his inaugural address, Dr. Mubashir Hameed, Senior Faculty, HKM Degree College, appreciated JKEDI’s efforts in promoting entrepreneurship and startup culture among students.

 

Aijaz Ahmed Mulla, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI, highlighted the key features of the J&K Startup Policy 2024-27 and its implementation. He also emphasised the scope for opportunity-based entrepreneurship and encouraged students to explore locally available resources and opportunities.

 

The session was followed by a presentation on pitch decks by Iqbal Ali, Faculty, JKEDI, to prepare students for the idea-pitching session.

 

Ten innovators, including seasoned innovator Mohammad Ismail, popularly known as the “Newton of Bandipora”, presented their ideas during the session. Student innovators from HKM Degree College and Government Polytechnic Bandipora also pitched ideas, which organisers said could develop into startups with proper mentorship and support.

 

A seven-member jury comprising Dr. Nasir-ul-Islam, Senior Faculty, HKM; Prof. Bilkees Rasool War, Faculty, HKM; Tajamul Islam, Branch Head, J&K Bank; Taseen Bhat, IPO, DIC; Nyla Bilal, guest entrepreneur; Iqbal Ali, Faculty, JKEDI; and Aijaz Ahmed Mulla, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI, evaluated the ideas.

 

Certificates of participation were distributed among the participants, while three best ideas were also felicitated.

 

The organisers expressed hope that more such initiatives would be conducted in the future to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation among students.

 

Prof. Shahid Shafi, Faculty, HKM Degree College, was also appreciated for his support in organising the event.
