JKGLTF Delegation Meets DSEK, Submits Charter of Demands; PM Package Employees Extended Support

Srinagar, April 21: A high-level delegation of the Jammu & Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF), Kashmir, led by its Provincial President Anver Hussain Wani, called on the Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) and presented a comprehensive charter of demands highlighting several long-pending issues faced by the teaching fraternity across the Valley.

Official Spokesperson of the Forum while talking to Kashmir Convener said that during meeting, the delegation raised key concerns including the transfer of teachers from hard zones, rationalisation of teaching staff to ensure equity and efficiency, and the issue of prolonged retention of teachers at select stations. They also urged the authorities to expedite promotions of teachers to Masters and fill vacant posts of Headmasters, Principals, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), and Lecturers.

The delegation stressed that delays in addressing these issues were adversely impacting both the academic environment and the morale of teachers. Additionally, concerns related to vocational trainers, Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRCs), and non-teaching staff were also brought to the notice of the DSEK, he further added. 

The Director School Education Kashmir gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that all genuine issues would be addressed on priority in a time-bound and transparent manner. However, the forum emphasized the need for prompt and visible action on the ground.

Later, the JKGLTF delegation participated in a special programme organised by PM Package employees of the Union Territory. In a significant development, the PM Package employees’ organisation extended its full support to JKGLTF and formally joined hands with the forum, strengthening a collective resolve to safeguard employees’ rights and enhance institutional accountability.

PM Package employees’ representative Avinash Bhat and his team were warmly welcomed by Anver Hussain Wani following their decision to align with JKGLTF. In return, the PM Package employees also extended a cordial welcome to the JKGLTF Executive Council and District Presidents, marking the beginning of a united front.

On the occasion, Principal GHSS Rajbagh and Principal HSS Mirgund, Zahoor Ahmad Ganai, appreciated the leadership and commitment of Anver Hussain Wani and termed the growing unity between JKGLTF and PM Package employees as a positive step towards effective representation and collective empowerment.

Meanwhile, Avinash Bhat was unanimously nominated as a core member and representative of the PM Package and Minority Wing of JKGLTF. He has been assigned the charge of PM Package and Minority Wing for Central Kashmir.

The delegation included Sahil Manzoor (UT Treasurer), Ghulam Qadir Jeelani (UT Spokesperson), Fayaz Ahmad Mir (Core Member), Mohammad Iqbal (District President Anantnag), Jaffar Jehangir (District President Kupwara), Shabir Ahmad, Saqib Faisal, Mohammad Anwar Lone, Javid Ahmad War, and Irfan Ahmad Malla.

The JKGLTF reiterated its commitment to continue its struggle for safeguarding the legitimate rights of teachers and ensuring quality education for students across Jammu and Kashmir.
