Srinagar, Oct 21: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday warned those supporting terrorism in the Union Territory that security agencies would track them down and ensure action against them under the law.

Addressing a Police Commemoration Day event, LG Sinha as per Kashmir Convener said the administration was committed to eliminating terrorism and dismantling the networks supporting it, asserting that efforts would continue until separatist and terrorist elements were rooted out.

“Our goal is to identify and root out terrorism and every element associated with it in Jammu and Kashmir. Today, we must resolve that we will not rest until this land is freed from separatist and terrorist elements,” he said.

Issuing a warning to those allegedly supporting terrorism, the Lieutenant Governor said they would not be able to evade the law by going into hiding.

“I warn those elements within Jammu Kashmir who support terrorism that your days are over. Even if you attempt to hide in Pataal, we will find you and ensure that you are punished under the law,” LG Sinha said.

He also paid tribute to police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, saying their sacrifices had played a significant role in protecting national security and maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

Thousands of Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel had laid down their lives while fighting terrorism, he said, adding that their contribution would always be remembered.

LG Sinha assured the families of the fallen personnel that the administration would continue to provide welfare assistance and other necessary support.

“No honour or assistance can compensate a family for the pain of losing a loved one. Yet, it is the nation’s duty to honour their sacrifice not merely in words, but also through its conduct and responsibilities,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor acknowledged the role of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in maintaining security and safeguarding the country’s integrity, particularly in challenging circumstances.

He also called for intensified action against drug trafficking and narco-terrorism, saying the dismantling of such networks was essential to achieving lasting peace in the Union Territory.

Emphasising the need to strengthen public safety, LG Sinha said preventing crimes against women and children, protecting vulnerable sections of society and ensuring timely justice for victims must remain key priorities for law enforcement agencies.

He urged people to uphold communal harmony, unity and mutual trust, while remaining vigilant against attempts to disturb peace.

LG Sinha also commended police personnel, the Army and CAPFs for their service and dedication, and wished them safety and success in the discharge of their duties.
