To strengthen the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, the District Administration Kupwara conducted mega pad yatras across the district, for a healthier, drug-free society. DC Kupwara Shri Shrikant Balasaheb Suse (IAS), conducted various anti-drug initiatives to make a healthier society.
After the LG Shri Manoj Sinha Ji’s initiative of a 100-day Campaign against drug abuse, Handwara Administration also conducted a mega rally against the Drug abuse to make the Nasha Mukht J&K abhiyaan more efficient. ADC Handwara, Tehsildar Handwara Shri Zeeshan Khan (JKAS) and other top officials are working hard against drug addiction.
The Usage of Drug abuse and Substance Use is ultimately destructive for the young minds. Under the visionary leadership of Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha ji, “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir abhiyan” arrives as a welcoming move forward. 100-day a dedicated Campaign, this step shows determination to break the hold of drugs by spreading knowledge, imposing rules firmly and getting locals involved. It is the responsibility of all especially the general public should be vigilant and be helpful in eradicating this evil from the society.
District Administration Kupwara Takes Initiative. The Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara Shri Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, IAS, walked alongside citizens at a mega rally against drugs speaks volumes of their commitment and zeal to fight against the drug abuse. J&K Police has remained in the forefront against drug abuse. Shri Sahil Sarangal, IPS (SSP Handwara), has been greatly working against drug abuse. The SSP Handwara has become a real force in the fight against drug abuse that speaks volumes of his dedication in the elimination of Drug abuse.
In recent times, he has broken the back of drug peddlers and fought against this evil tremendously and has registered a number of cases, arrested several traffickers, and seized illegal drugs. He strictly attacks the financial backbone of these networks, to make sure they cannot just start up again somewhere else. SSP Handwara has declared a zero-tolerance policy, saying there is “no mercy” for drug peddlers in the district.
The administration is combining strict laws with rehabilitation support for addicts. SSP Handwara works for the betterment and welfare of the Young people. He helps families, teachers, and students to work together. That kind of trust and connection is rare, but it makes a real difference in a place struggling with something as destructive as drug abuse. Prevention takes shape through proper guidance.

How Drugs Affects Young Generations?
Deciphering the consequences of the Use of Drugs and Substance is alarming. It precisely damages the physical, mental and psychological being of an addicted person. When the body loses its control the mind also faces severe issues. In the first phase, it seems that everything is fine but gradually it overwhelms the physical and mental strength of a person. People start feeling desperate and distanced from their education, which limits their power to be able to achieve their dreams.
Some of the Negative Psychological Impacts of the Drug Abuse which includes
1) Family breakdown: Addiction creates tension, conflict, and social isolation within families.
2) Relationship Departure:- Drug abuse certainly leads to conflict with family and friends, broken trust, and isolation.
3) Financial Loss: The impact of the consumption and Usage of Drugs is gigantic, People get caught in substantial debt which costs them their mental health, loss of interest in daily activities and many more.
4) Victims of anxiety and depression:- Excessive Use of Drugs and Substance intake can cause mental disorders which eventually leads to depression and anxiety.
5) Cognitive Impairment:- Substantial use of Drugs and Substance abuse can affect the memory power, the decision making, loss of interest in the work which eventually leads to a number of other psychological diseases.
These are the Psychological impacts of the Drug abuse, but this is not the end, there are also a number of Physical and Mental concerns caused by the excessive usage of Drugs and Substance Abuse:-
1) Affects memory and concentration.
2) Heart problems increased heart rate, high blood pressure, risk of heart attack.
3) Liver damage especially from substances like alcohol; can lead to liver failure.
4) Lung issues:- Breathing problems, Cough etc.
5) Weakened immune system:- Victims of different infections and diseases.
6) Digestive problems:- nausea, vomiting, appetite issues and many other such deadly concerns.
7) Weight loss or gain unhealthy changes in body weight and nutrition.
There are numerous negative impacts of the Drug abuse and substance use which cannot be described in words. It snatches one’s dreams, aspirations, family expectations even his own well-being. This few minutes of enjoyment costs one everything in this world and will have severe punishment in the hereafter. The residents are also working to bring the change. Young faces appear at gatherings which show the courage of these people who want to eliminate this disastrous addiction.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have been working day and night against the drug abuse. The great initiative of Nasha Mukht J&K led by LG Shri Manoj Sinha is indeed a great step against drug abuse. Right now, across Jammu & Kashmir, People are tremendously working against the Drug abuse. May Allah Almighty enlighten the young Minds for the best and help them overcome these harmful activities.
