Grand Finale of Chinar Football Premier League Concludes

Bandipora, August 29: The week long Football tournament  being conducted at Vijipura, Hajan came to an end with Football Club Wahab Hajan lifting the trophy. 

Sixteen teams from the districts of Bandipore, Gandarbal and Baramulla had participated in the tournament organised by the 13 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the agesis of HQ 3 Sector RR.

Breathtaking final match of the tournament was played between the teams of Wangipura and Football club  Wahab  Hajin.

 In the nail bitting match initially Hajan team scored a goal in the 10th minute of the game and took the lead, Wangipura team immediately leveled the score but two amazing goals by Hajan from centre line before the close of first half gave them a lead over Wangipura team. In the second half Hajan team dominated the game winning the tournament with score 4-1. Players of both the teams were very satisfied with their performance.

This initiative of the Army to organise a Football tournament for the youth was greatly appreciated by one and all. It provided an opportunity to the youth to showcase their talent. The tournament also recieved an overwhelming support from the locals who gathered in large numbers to witness the display of exceptional football skills.

Conduct of the tournament by the Army has resulted in constructive engagement of youth generating a feeling of belongingness and motivated them to stay in the national mainstream, thereby improving the overall situation in the district. 

The tournament has indeed helped Army in projecting a humane face and also in reviving the dying sports culture in the region.
