Kulgam, September 23: The Bandipora girls’ team emerged victorious in the U-14 Girls Inter-Provincial Level Baseball event organised by the Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, Kashmir and hosted by the District Youth Services & Sports Office, Kulgam.
The event witnessed participation from eight teams, with young players competing in a series of matches showcasing their sporting talent, teamwork and competitive spirit.
In finals, the Bandipora team defeated the host Kulgam side to lift the championship title. The Bandipora players displayed determination and confidence throughout the competition and produced a strong performance in the decisive match.
Speaking on the occasion, an official from the District Youth Services and Sports Office, Kulgam, said that such events provide young athletes with an important platform to develop their skills and gain competitive experience.
“The participation of eight teams in the event reflects the growing interest of young girls in sports. We congratulate the winning team and appreciate all the participants for displaying discipline, sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the competition,” the official said.
Bandipora team’s coach Naveed Anjum appreciated the efforts of the players and said the victory was the result of their hard work and commitment during training.
“The girls worked very hard for this competition and remained focused throughout the event. Winning the final is a proud moment for the team, and I hope this performance motivates them to work even harder and represent Bandipora at higher levels,” Anjum said.
A player from the winning Bandipora team expressed happiness over the victory and thanked her coach and teammates for their support.
“We are very happy to win the final. We supported each other throughout the matches and followed our coach’s guidance. This victory has given us more confidence and encouraged us to continue working hard in baseball,” she said.
The event concluded with appreciation for the participating teams and officials for their contribution towards promoting sports among young girls. The organisers also emphasised the importance of providing regular opportunities to budding athletes to participate in competitive sporting events.
