Bandipora, Sept 22: Eight teams advanced to the quarter-finals of the Maj Gopi Singh Rathore, (SC) Memorial North Kashmir Football Premier League 2025–26 after the Round of 16 matches were played at Baba Karim Football Stadium and Adnan Football Stadium at Watpora village in Bandipora on Tuesday.
At Baba Karim Football Stadium, WAFC Watapora defeated Hadood FC 3-1, while Al Hanan FC edged past FC Dachigam 1-0. Budshah FC Nathpora advanced after Sports Club Bandipora was disqualified. Harmukh FC also progressed with a 2-0 victory over Papchan FC.
At Adnan Football Stadium, Hashmee FC advanced after receiving a walkover against Chitternar Ayatmulla FC. Friends FC defeated Northall United FC 3-1, while Muslim FC registered the biggest win of the day, defeating Kehnusa FC 9-2. Al Falak FC completed the quarter-final lineup with a 1-0 win over Panthers United FC.
The quarter-final matches will be played on September 23 from 8 am.
A total of 68 teams are participating in the tournament, including 28 teams from Bandipora district.
Players participating in the tournament expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for organising the competition annually, saying it provides young people an opportunity to use their leisure time productively while showcasing and developing their footballing talent.
The players said regular competitions also motivate them to undergo rigorous practice and improve their skills.
