Anantnag, Aug 26: A historic Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ procession witnessed the participation of over 50,000 devotees in Anantnag on Wednesday, as thousands gathered in a powerful expression of love and reverence for the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
The centuries-old spiritual tradition, which has been carried forward in the town for more than 100 years, holds a special place in the religious and cultural history of Anantnag. For five generations, members of the Qazi family have had the honour of leading and guiding the historic procession, preserving a tradition passed down from one generation to the next.
The procession commenced from the Khanqah of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Baba Hyder Reshi (RA) and moved through the streets of Anantnag’s old town. Amid devotional slogans, salutations upon the Holy Prophet ﷺ and a deeply spiritual atmosphere, the massive gathering marched peacefully before the procession concluded at Jama Masjid, Anantnag.
This year’s historic procession was led by Idara Tehqiqat-e-Islami, with the participation and support of several Hanafi religious and social organisations. The large turnout reflected the deep-rooted tradition of celebrating the blessed birth of the Prophet ﷺ and the enduring spiritual attachment of the people of Kashmir to the message of mercy, peace and moral excellence.
Addressing the gathering at Jama Masjid, Maulana Ramiz Qadri, Head Preacher of Jama Masjid, said that the true love of the Prophet ﷺ must be reflected not merely in words and celebrations, but in the character and conduct of society.
“The greatest tribute we can offer to the Holy Prophet ﷺ is to bring his teachings into our lives. At a time when our society is witnessing a worrying growth in crime and moral challenges, we must return to the values he taught us, justice, compassion, honesty, respect for human life and responsibility towards one another. A society connected with the character of the Prophet ﷺ cannot remain indifferent to injustice, violence and wrongdoing.”
He further urged the younger generation to draw inspiration from the life of the Prophet ﷺ and become ambassadors of peace, moral discipline and service to society.
Maulana Ramiz Qadri also expressed gratitude to the local government, civil administration and Jammu & Kashmir Police for making thorough and comprehensive arrangements for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the historic procession. He appreciated the coordinated efforts made to facilitate the movement and safety of the massive gathering.
The Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ procession once again concluded peacefully, reaffirming a more than century-old legacy of faith, devotion and unity in Anantnag.
