Kamraz Football Championship Begins at Naidkhai

Naidkhai, July 12: The Kamraz Football Championship commenced with enthusiasm at the Sports Stadium, Naidkhai, on Saturday, with hosts Kamraz FC Naidkhai taking on FC Jhelum Sumbal in the tournament’s opening match.

The championship was formally inaugurated by former footballer Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani in the presence of District Football Association (DFA) Sonawari President Asim Aijaz, Showkat Ahmad Hurra, Mohammad Iqbal, Mudabir Qureshi, Touseef Ahmad, Mohammad Altaf and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani said such tournaments provide an important platform for young footballers to showcase their talent while fostering sportsmanship and a healthy sporting culture among the youth.

DFA Sonawari President Asim Aijaz said the championship has been organised to strengthen grassroots football and identify emerging talent from the region. He urged young players to participate with discipline, dedication and team spirit, adding that sporting events play a vital role in steering youth towards positive and constructive activities.

A large gathering of football enthusiasts witnessed the inaugural match, reflecting the growing popularity of football in the area. Organisers said the championship will feature competitive contests among local teams and provide aspiring players with an opportunity to display their skills before a wider audience.

The tournament is expected to continue over the coming days with participation from several football clubs across the region, further promoting the sport and encouraging youth engagement through healthy competition.
