Bandipora, October 10: Member of Legislative Assembly from Bandipora Nizamuddin Bhat on Saturday inspected the work that has been started recently to connect Chuntiwari hamlet of Aloosa Tehsil at the cost of Rs 10.5 Cr under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

On the occasion the legislator interacted with the officers and the public to get the feedback about the quality of work and urged the officers to ensure the work is completed in stipulated time.

The legislator received a rousing reception in the hamlet as locals thanked the legislator for using his good office to get the road project sanctioned.

Speaking to Kashmir Convener, he said adjustments would be made in Phase 1 in consultation with contractors and engineers, but stressed that full coverage of the left-out habitations was necessary in Phase 2.

“The adjustments will be made in Phase 1 according to the alignment with the contractors and engineers. But it is necessary to take it fully in Phase 2. My commitment is that I will make sure that all other settlements are added in Phase 2,” he said.

The legislator said lower-lying settlements required greater priority, pointing out that while upper areas would primarily cater to traffic movement, the lower areas represented the actual settlement zone.

MLA Bhat thanked the staff associated with the scheme for conceiving and approving the project on time, and said pending issues would be taken up for inclusion in the second phase so that local grievances are addressed.

“This will mainly connect Chuntiwari and it will get closer to Sheikh Muqam,” he said.

Locals thanked the MLA for fulfilling their long-pending demand, saying the construction of the road has come as a major relief for the residents.
