Bandipora, April 17: Residents of Plan and Dachigam areas in Bandipora district have raised concerns over deteriorating road conditions on the Plan–Dachigam stretch, citing difficulties faced by pedestrians and commuters, particularly during the ongoing rainy season.

According to locals from Ward No. 02 Bandipora and adjoining Dachigam areas, the absence of a proper drainage system has resulted in waterlogging at multiple points along the road.

They said the situation is compounded by the presence of potholes, making the stretch unsafe for both pedestrians and motorists.

Residents said that the problem intensifies during rainfall, leading to frequent disruptions in movement. School children and elderly citizens are among the worst affected, as water-filled potholes make walking difficult and increase the risk of accidents.

“The road turns into a series of water-filled pits during rains, making it extremely inconvenient to walk,” a local resident said, highlighting the daily challenges faced by commuters.

Locals have urged the authorities, including MLA Bandipora and officials of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, to take immediate steps to address the issue. They have called for proper drainage facilities and repair of the damaged road to ensure safe and smooth movement.

Residents said timely intervention is necessary to prevent further deterioration and reduce risks to public safety.
