PAMPORE, August 14: A scooty rider died after the two-wheeler he was riding was hit by a truck at Wuyan Bala, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Khrew in Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, son of Suna Ullah Bhat, a resident of Wuyan Bala, officials told Kashmir Convener.
According to officials, the accident occurred near JK Bank at Wuyan Bala and involved a scooty bearing registration number JK13J-5323 and a truck bearing registration number JK05B-3534.
The scooty rider sustained critical injuries in the mishap. With the assistance of locals and police personnel, he was immediately shifted to a Sub District Hospital Pampore, from where he was referred to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
The body of the deceased was handed over to his family after completion of the post-mortem and other legal formalities.
Police Station Khrew has registered a case and initiated further investigation into the incident, officials said.
Both vehicles involved in the accident have been seized, while the truck driver has been arrested, they added.
