Shopian Police Holds District-Level DGP/IGP Conference 2025–26

SHOPIAN, April 8: District Police Shopian on Tuesday organised a one-day District-Level DGP/IGP Conference 2025–26 at the Conference Hall of DPO Shopian.

The conference was presided over by the SSP Shopian, who delivered the inaugural address and underscored the importance of professional excellence, quality investigation and strengthening public engagement in policing.

The programme began with lectures by senior officers, followed by thematic sessions conducted by experienced officials. Key issues deliberated upon included intelligence gathering at the police station level, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in investigations, and the role of CCTV surveillance in enhancing policing—particularly in ensuring women’s safety.

Discussions also focused on the effective utilisation of emergency response systems and included a panel discussion on radicalisation and strategies to counter it. Police station management was deliberated upon in detail.

Further sessions highlighted the importance of beat policing, communication skills and community policing. Special emphasis was laid on proactive engagement with local leaders to effectively manage and defuse crisis situations.

The conference witnessed active participation from PSIs, Investigating Officers (IOs) and police personnel from various branches of DPO/DPL Shopian.

District Police Shopian reiterated its commitment to strengthening professional standards, enhancing investigative capabilities and promoting people-friendly policing through such capacity-building initiatives.
