SKUAST-K Holds One-Day MSME Awareness Programme in Pampore

Pampore, Jan 16: The Directorate of Planning and Monitoring, SKUAST-Kashmir, organised a one-day awareness programme on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) at Patalbagh, Pampore, on Friday, aiming to empower local farmers, entrepreneurs, and youth to enhance income generation and promote rural entrepreneurship.

Conducted in collaboration with the Rural Business Incubation Centre (RBIC), SKUAST-Kashmir, the programme was held under the theme “Grow, Process and Earn” and focused on building awareness about MSME support mechanisms, value addition, and market-oriented production.

The event featured expert sessions by Imran Ahmad, Financial Expert from the Directorate of Planning and Monitoring; Dr Tabassum Mushtaq, Data Analyst Expert, RBIC SKUAST-K; Uzma Bashir, Marketing Expert, RBIC SKUAST-K; and Irshad Ahmad Dar, Managing Director, Jhelum Organic Farmer Producer Company Ltd. The speakers emphasised financial planning, data-driven decision-making, effective marketing strategies, and the role of farmer producer companies in strengthening rural enterprises.

Participants were encouraged to take full advantage of MSME schemes and institutional support to establish sustainable and profitable businesses. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from local farmers, entrepreneurs, and aspiring youth, who lauded the initiative as a step towards promoting economic self-reliance and entrepreneurship in rural areas.

The organisers said such initiatives are crucial to bridging knowledge gaps, fostering innovation, and equipping local communities with the tools necessary to scale up production, process farm produce, and expand market reach, thereby contributing to overall rural development and livelihood generation.
