Pampore, September 16: In a joint drive against illegal mining, Pampore Police, along with the Geology and Mining Department, Pulwama, seized five vehicles allegedly involved in the transportation of illegally extracted minerals in the Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
Officials told Kashmir Convener that a team from Police Station Pampore, along with officials of the Geology and Mining Department, conducted raids in Saffron Town Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore R.P. Singh and seized five vehicles allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of minerals.
The authorities warned individuals involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals to refrain from such activities, saying that strict action under law would be taken against violators.
Pampore Police reiterated its commitment to curbing illegal mining and unauthorised transportation of mineral resources and urged the public to report such activities to the authorities for necessary legal action.
Meanwhile, the Geology and Mining Department Pulwama, during a night operation, seized one L&T chain-type machine allegedly involved in illegal mining activities in the Wuyan area of Pampore, officials said.
The mining team also seized four vehicles during raids conducted at different locations in the district, including Tral and Naina Lethpora, on Tuesday.
During the enforcement operation, the department also seized dumped material.
The action was carried out as part of the department’s ongoing drive against illegal mining and the transportation of mineral material in the district.
