Bandipora, April 10 : In a major crackdown on separatist networks, Bandipora Police on Wednesday arrested eight members affiliated with various proscribed organisations for their alleged involvement in promoting terrorism and secessionist activities across the district.

According to a police statement, the arrests were made as part of ongoing investigations into multiple FIRs registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at police stations Bandipora, Sumbal, and Hajin. The operation unfolded across various locations in the district, targeting suspects linked to banned separatist outfits.

“These individuals were not only promoting extremist ideologies but were also attempting to revive separatist movements by motivating impressionable youth and recruiting new members (Rukuns) into banned outfits,” the police stated.

The arrests underline the commitment of Bandipora Police to dismantling terror-support networks and ensuring peace and stability in the region. Authorities reiterated that anyone found furthering separatist or extremist agendas will face strict legal consequences.

“Persons promoting secessionist and separatist ideology will face firm action under the law. Bandipora Police remains committed to ensuring peace and security across the district,” the statement added.
