HSS Baduaab defeats GDC Tulail in anti-drug awareness cricket match

Tulail, May 7: A cricket match was organised between Government Degree College Tulail and Higher Secondary School Baduaab on Wednesday to mark World Athletics Day under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, with organisers highlighting the role of sports in promoting awareness against drug abuse among youth.

The event witnessed participation from students, staff members and local residents, with officials stating that the programme aimed to encourage healthy lifestyles and positive engagement through sports activities.

The programme was hosted by Principal of Higher Secondary School Baduaab Nayeem Ahmad Parey, who said sports activities help promote discipline, physical fitness and social awareness among students. Addressing participants, he said such initiatives can play a role in discouraging drug abuse among youth.

Principal of Government Degree College Tulail Dr Tariq Ahmad Wani also addressed the gathering and urged students to actively participate in sports and extracurricular activities. He said awareness programmes under the anti-drug campaign are important in educating youth about the effects of substance abuse.

In the match, Higher Secondary School Baduaab won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 149 runs in the allotted 10 overs. Government Degree College Tulail, while chasing the target, scored 98 runs in its innings.

Officials said the bowlers and fielders of Higher Secondary School Baduaab restricted the opposition from building partnerships, resulting in the team winning the match by a substantial margin.

The event concluded with appreciation for both teams for their participation and sportsmanship. Organisers said the programme was aimed at spreading awareness about physical fitness, youth engagement and the importance of staying away from drug abuse.
