The clarification came after the issue related to the district president post was raised during deliberations by party leaders Nazir Gurezi and Hilal Lone.

According to party sources, both Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah stated that there was no question of any change in the position of District President Bandipora and directed Dr Zahoor Sofi to continue his responsibilities and proceed with the formation of the district body.

The meeting marked the first time Dr Zahoor Sofi participated in the Provincial Working Committee in his capacity as District President Bandipora.

The appointment of Dr Zahoor Sofi as president raised objections from a section of the party who had protested at party headquarters earlier this week against the decision and sought roll back of the order.

During the proceedings, Dr Zahoor Sofi was also invited to address the meeting. In his remarks, he thanked the party leadership for expressing confidence in him and acknowledged the support and guidance of the senior party leadership.

Dr. Zahoor Sofi sought the guidance and cooperation from senior party leaders from the district including MLA Gurez Nazir Gurezi and MLA Sonawari Hilal Lone. He hoped that together they will strengthen the party and make the district unit a symbol of unity, discipline, and organizational strength.

The meeting was attended by all cabinet ministers, Hon’ble Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, legislators, senior party leaders, and members of the Provincial Working Committee.

Among those who attended the important meeting were Dr. Zahoor Sofi, District President Bandipora, Adv. Nazir Malik, Zonal Secretary North Kashmir / Constituency In-charge Bandipora, along with Nazir Gurezi and Hilal Lone.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding party functioning, organizational matters, and administrative issues concerning the welfare and development of the people. Various measures and solutions were also deliberated upon to further strengthen the party at the grassroots level and improve governance.
