DC Bandipora visits Razdhan Pass to inspect road clearance
Bandipora May 07: Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad, Sunday visited Razdhan Pass to inspect clearance work of snow and land slides triggered by recent inclement weather conditions at some spots sitauted on higher altitudes on Bandipora-Gurez Road.
The DC was accompanied by officers from Border Road Organization (BRO) Project Beacon and other concerned officers from MED, Revenue besides other concerned.
Dr Owias expressed satisfaction over the clearance works being undertaken and applauded the untiring efforts of field staff of BEACON for working in such harash and inclement weather conditions to ensure connectivity to Gurez Valley. He further said that Road has been opened for two-way traffic in a regulated manner with requisite precautions and the same is being allowed after taking daily assessment of road and weather conditions. He further appealed commuters and tourists to embark on the journey to/from Gurez only after ascertaining the status of road from District Control Room and follow the advisories issued on a daily basis.
Pertinently, Razdhan Pass is situated at an altitude of 11672 ft above sea level and witnesses unpredictable harsh weather conditions like harsh & strong winds and snowfall upto 20 ft during winters which leads to closure of Bandipora-Gurez Road during winter months.
