Bandipora Lacks District Library, Students Demand Better Facilities
Bandipora, March 13: The absence of a dedicated district library in Bandipora has left students and aspirants struggling for proper study resources, especially those preparing for competitive exams.
The existing tehsil-level library, operating from a privately rented accommodation, is poorly equipped, lacks internet access, and remains largely unknown to many students.
With just four rooms, including a reading space and an office, the library functions only during office hours, restricting students’ access. Established in 1972, it has been relocated multiple times, including after a fire incident in 1974, and has yet to find a permanent and well-equipped space.
Students have raised serious concerns over limited infrastructure, outdated study materials, and the lack of digital resources. “We need a proper library with modern facilities, digital access, and round-the-clock availability to compete on a national level,” said a local aspirant.
Those from remote areas face even greater challenges due to the absence of a centralized and accessible library. The students have urged the administration to take immediate steps to upgrade the facility, introduce online resources, and ensure longer operational hours to cater to their academic needs.
