CPD, SWD organises Speech, Hearing Assessment Intervention Camp in Baramulla
Srinagar, Feb 09: The Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Voluntary Medicare Society organised a Speech and Hearing Assessment Intervention Camp in Baramulla district.
The camp aimed to provide support to underserved senior citizens in need of assistive devices. During the camp, more than 20 assistive devices were distributed to underprivileged senior citizens following assessment and intervention protocols.
This initiative has been appreciated by beneficiaries, highlighting the change it has brought to their lives. Ghulam Mohammad, aged 72, expressed his gratitude, stating, "I reached out to the Commissioner for Disabilities directly, who assured me of help and intervention within 20 days. I am thankful to the organisers for hosting this camp, as it has enabled me to hear properly." Mr. Mohammad hails from a rural area of Baramulla.
Another beneficiary, Zooni Bagum, shared her excitement after receiving a hearing aid and undergoing a checkup, expressing her gratitude for the organisers' efforts. This camp marks a significant milestone in intervention and outreach efforts for persons with disabilities in the region.
A representative from the office of the Commissioner for Disabilities, Jammu and Kashmir, stated, "This camp is the first of its kind in terms of intervention and outreach, and we plan to replicate its success in other parts of the Union Territory in the coming months.”
