SHGs handover 48500 masks to Bandipora admin within three days
BANDIPORA, APRIL 11: Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Rural Livelihoods Mission (UMEED) Bandipora lend a helping hand to the district administration by making masks on a mass scale. The groups handed over 48500 masks within three days and handed over to the district administration fir further distribution to the public.
The district administration has set a target to manufacture 4 lac masks so that a mask could be provided to each citizen of the district to ensure the safety of general public amid Corona virus pandemic.
On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza, the SHG members associated with the JKSRLM stepped in to meet the demand within shortest possible time.
District Programme Manager Javid Ahmad Parray said that about 100 members of the SHGs are working round the clock in shifts to make as many masks as possible and within three days they manufactured 48500 masks and handed over to district administration for further distribution to the general public.
Earlier Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Reyaz Ahmad Beigh said the administration has roped in hundreds of local entrepreneur, self-help groups (SHGs) for the mass production of masks in the district and meet the deadline of April 20. He said the masks are made under the guidelines and all the raw material is being provided to the SHGs for the production of the same.
He said majority of the consignment was received from SHGs. He said out of the total 70 thousands masks received so far, 48500 masks were manufactured by SHGs only and distributed to the rural population through the Department of Rural Development. They are ensuring rapid production, distribution and outreach of masks so as to achieve universal mask usage in the district.
