Class 12th Results: Bandipora shows poor performance with 36.38 pass percentage
Only 1445 students qualified; Govt to constitute Fact-Finding Committee

Bandipora, January 8: Bandipora district has yet again showed dismal performance in Class 12th exams as result was announced on Monday raising alarm bells among the concerned quarters of the district.
Out of 3971 students who appeared in the class 12th exams in the district, only 1445 have successfully qualified the exams while the rest 2526 have failed to qualify, thus reflecting the quality and standard of education in the Bandipora district which was once known for Alim (Education) Adab (literature) and Aab (Water).
Tehsil Sonawari has shown the highest pass percentage of 40.39%, while as Bandipora and Gurez has recorded 37% and 23.40% respectively.
Out of 1582 students who appeared in the exam from Sonawari, 639 have qualified and 943 have failed while in Bandipora only 688 students have passed the exam out of 1855 students who appeared in exams. Only 125 students have passed their exam out of 534 students in Gurez valley.
District Bandipora has grabbed a total number of 194 distinctions.
Nahida Amin, a student of Government Girls Higher Secondary Plan Bandipora hailing from Onagam Bandipora secured the highest marks (480) in the district.
Bandipora has grabbed 102 distinctions while as Sonawari and Gurez has grabbed 81 and 11 distinctions respectively with Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Plan Bandipora grabbing the highest number of 39 distinctions in the district.
Baduab, Purana Tulail, Badugam, Godakhod and Government Boys Higher Secondary Dawar Gurez have failed to secure any distinctions.
Among the Government Higher Secondary Schools, Arin Higher Secondary has the highest 68.85 pass percentage while Nadihal Higher Secondary has the lowest of 27.74 pass percentage in Bandipora.
In Sonawari, Government Higher Secondary Nowgam has got the highest 53.10 pass percentage while government Higher Secondary Godakhod has got the lowest pass percentage of 22 percent.
Likewise in Gurez Government Boys Higher Secondary Dawar has got highest 48.78 pass percentage and Government Higher Secondary Purana Tulail has got the lowest pass percentage of 8.33 percent while as New Green Land Higher Secondary School Sumbal has topped the district with 72.17 pass percentage.
Chief Education Officer Bandipora Munshi Mohammad Javaid acknowledged the low pass percentage from past few years and said that they will constitute a Fact Finding Committee to know the reasons of the poor results.
“I am going to call an urgent meeting of all the Higher Secondary School Principals of the district in coming days and new ideas and strategies will be discussed to improve the results in future,” he added.
