Srinagar, Oct 13: The Lal Chowk Post Office in Srinagar will remain open from 9 am to 9 pm, extending its working hours by four hours to facilitate mail and parcel booking, the postal department said.
The post office previously operated from 9 am to 5 pm. The extended timings are intended to benefit shopkeepers, business establishments and tourists visiting Lal Chowk, one of Srinagar’s main commercial centres.
Adam Mohiuddin, IPoS, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, said the move was aimed at making postal services more accessible, particularly for people unable to visit the facility during regular working hours.
He said the extended schedule would allow shopkeepers to book mail and parcels after their daily business activities, while tourists would also have more time to access postal services.
An official spokesperson said the move is expected to improve customer convenience and strengthen the delivery of postal services in the Lal Chowk area.
“By keeping the post office operational until 9 pm, the department aims to cater to the needs of a wider section of the public and ensure greater accessibility to essential postal facilities,” spokesperson added.
The initiative is intended to improve public convenience and provide greater flexibility in accessing postal facilities in the Lal Chowk area.
