Chennai, September 13: A five day long media tour organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Srinagar for the journalists from Kashmir commenced on Sunday as the media team touched down in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
An official spokesperson said the delegation is led by Shahid Mohammad Lone, Field Publicity Officer (FPO), Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), serving as the Conducting Officer, with Ifham Ul Islam Information Assistant, PIB Srinagar accompanying the delegation.
PIB Chennai accorded the thirteen member media delegation comprising of eleven journalists and two officials a warm welcome upon their arrival at the Chennai International Airport here in Chennai.
Spokesperson said the tour is aimed at providing journalists with firsthand exposure to key Central Government institutions, projects and initiatives in Chennai and enhancing their understanding of national level policies and their implementation on the ground.
During the visit, the delegation will visit various Central Government establishments and projects in Chennai and interact with senior officials to gain an understanding of their functioning and operations.
Earlier in a pre-departure briefing, Qazi Salman, Director PIB Srinagar on Saturday congratulated the participants and expressed confidence that the visit will provide an opportunity for professional engagement and a better understanding of the functioning of Central Government institutions.
