Pampore, August 27: Traffic Rural Kashmir on Thursday issued 86 challans and realized ₹42,500 in fines during a special enforcement drive on NH-44 in the Chandhara area of Pampore in Pulwama district. One motorcycle was also seized during the operation.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Liaqat Ali, along with DySP Traffic Pulwama-Shopian Mushtaq Ahmad Lone and concerned sector officers.
Traffic officials carried out checking of vehicles and booked violations including riding without helmets, triple riding, use of pressure horns, rash and negligent driving and failure to carry valid vehicle documents. The enforcement action was carried out under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The seized motorcycle was sent to Police Post Galander for safe custody.
During the drive, Ali and Lone counselled drivers and advised them to follow prescribed traffic procedures and maintain road safety. Vehicle operators were directed to observe speed limits and avoid overloading, rash and negligent driving and stunt riding.
Traffic personnel also monitored vehicular movement along the highway during the operation.
Officials said the enforcement drive was aimed at improving compliance with traffic regulations and creating awareness among road users about safe driving practices.
Traffic authorities said similar enforcement drives would continue to deter violations and strengthen road safety measures across the district.
