Srinagar, August 14: The 144th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organised a grand Tiranga Yatra on Dal Lake on the eve of Independence Day as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’, with an aim to promote patriotism, national unity and respect for the Tricolour.
The programme was led by Smt. Madhu Bala, Commandant, 144th Battalion CRPF, who was the chief guest. 2-I/C Vikrant Singh, Deputy Commandant Anjani Kumar and other officers and personnel of the force were also present.
The programme commenced with the National Song, followed by the National Anthem. Addressing the gathering, Madhu Bala highlighted the significance of Independence Day and the dignity and honour associated with the National Flag. She urged citizens to hoist the Tricolour at their homes and spread the message of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
Later, Tricolour-coloured balloons were released, following which the Commandant flagged off the Tiranga Yatra through Shikaras and boats at Dal Lake.
Carrying the National Flag, CRPF officers and personnel proceeded along the designated route on Dal Lake amid patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The sight of the Tricolour fluttering from Shikaras and boats added to the festive atmosphere and conveyed a message of national pride, unity and integrity.
The Yatra concluded at Ghat No. 13, after which the participants assembled at the headquarters of the 144th Battalion CRPF, where the National Song and National Anthem were presented once again.
At the conclusion of the programme, Madhu Bala extended Independence Day greetings to the participants and called upon them to remain committed to safeguarding the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
