Govt Stepping Up Efforts to Address Staff Shortage in JK Hospitals: Sakina  Itoo

PAMPORE, May 05:  Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Health and Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo on Tuesday said the government has initiated steps to address staff shortages in the health sector.

She said this while reviewing healthcare infrastructure projects in Pampore constituency. She was accompanied by Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi, MLA Pampore during their visit to Parigam, Kakapora and Ratnipora areas of Pampore Constituency to review developmental works in the healthcare sector.

       During the visit, the Minister, in the presence of Jehangir Bakhshi, Director Health Services Kashmir, inaugurated a Digital X-Ray facility and a Thyroid Analyser at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Parigam.

The newly established diagnostic facilities are expected to strengthen healthcare services and improve access to quality medical care for the local population.

CMO Pulwama  Dr Tehmeena, BMO Pampore Dr Yousuf Majid and other officials also present on the occasion.

       The Minister, along with the MLA Pampore, also inspected the proposed site for the 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital and Yoga Training Centre at Ratnipora. She stressed the importance of promoting traditional systems of medicine alongside modern healthcare infrastructure to ensure holistic healthcare services.

       Later, the Minister reviewed the progress of construction work on the under-construction 50-bedded Hospital at Kakapora and directed the concerned officials to ensure timely completion of the project so that quality healthcare facilities are made available to the people at the earliest.

       The visit primarily focused on assessing ongoing healthcare infrastructure projects and strengthening medical as well as educational services across the Pampore Constituency. On the occasion, Naseer Ahmad, Director School Education Kashmir, ACR Pulwama and other senior officers were also present.

       Addressing a gathering on the occasion, the Minister highlighted that the Government led by Omar Abdullah is committed to strengthen the medical infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir, with special focus on rural and underserved areas. She underlined that the introduction of these advanced diagnostic facilities will greatly enhance early detection and timely treatment of diseases, reducing the need for patients to travel to tertiary care hospitals.

She emphasized the government’s commitment to equipping rural healthcare institutions with modern technology to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare for all.

While interacting with media persons, the Minister termed the examination ordered by the Supreme Court of India for Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers as unfortunate and assured that the matter would be taken up at the appropriate level to safeguard the interests of the teaching community.

       Meanwhile, the Minister stated that efforts are underway to address staff shortages in health sector. She said that the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference-led government has already appointed several doctors to strengthen healthcare services and added that further measures will continue to improve staffing and public service delivery across Jammu and Kashmir.
