IUST Organises Student Outreach Programme under NMBA at GHS Barsoo

AWANTIPORA, April 28: Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) today organized an outreach programme for school students under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Government High School, Barsoo, one of the villages adopted under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA). The programme was coordinated by the Community Connect and UBA coordinators to sensitize students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle.

The event witnessed active participation from students and staff. University Medical Officer, Dr. Zahida Rasool, highlighted the serious health consequences of drug abuse, emphasizing early prevention and healthy living.

Dr. Shaiqa Nasreen, Coordinator Outreach, stressed the role of youth in building a drug-free society, while UBA Coordinator, Dr. Romana Yousuf, encouraged students to engage in community awareness efforts.

Tutors from Syed Mantaqi Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology, Ms. Ulfat Amin and Ms. Insha Rasool, also spoke about preventive measures against substance abuse. The programme concluded with students taking a pledge to abstain from drugs and work towards realizing the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
