Bandipora, April 28: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, police in Hajin have seized property worth approximately Rs 55 lakh belonging to an alleged drug peddler, officials said on Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as Lal Din Sheikh, son of late Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sheikh, a resident of Hakbar, Hajin. Police said he is involved in multiple cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
He is an accused in FIR No. 33/2015, registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, involving a commercial quantity of 102 kilograms of charas powder, and FIR No. 47/2023, under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, involving the recovery of 2 kg 700 grams of charas powder.
The property was seized under Section 68 (1 & 2) of the NDPS Act following due legal procedure, officials said.
Police said the action is part of intensified efforts to dismantle the drug trafficking network and curb the narcotics menace in the region.
