Kousar Shafeeq Named Mahila Congress District President in Bandipora

Bandipora, April 28: Kousar Shafeeq-former Vice Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Bandipora  has been appointed as the District President of Bandipora for the women’s wing of Indian National Congress. The party’s national leadership issued the orders on Tuesday.

An official spokesperson said the appointment was approved by Alka Lamba- President of All India Mahila Congress as part of an organisational exercise aimed at strengthening the party’s women’s wing in Jammu and Kashmir.

President JK Pradesh Mahila Morcha Shameema Raina while informaing about the decision of leadership, said the decision is part of a broader restructuring initiative intended to enhance grassroots engagement and organisational outreach across the region.

Kousar Shafeeq, a former Vice Chairperson of the District Development Council Bandipora, has been associated with various social and community initiatives.

Spokesperson said her appointment is expected to focus on mobilising women at the grassroots level and strengthening the party’s presence in the district. Local party leaders and workers have welcomed the move, stating that the leadership change is likely to contribute to increased participation and organisational activity.

“The development is part of ongoing efforts by the Mahila Congress to expand its organisational base and promote women’s participation in political processes in Jammu and Kashmir”.
