Media Delegation from Keralam Visits NHPC Hydropower Projects in Baramulla

Srinagar, September 09: On the third day of the ongoing Press Tour to Jammu and Kashmir, the media delegation from Keralam visited Baramulla district in North Kashmir and gained first-hand insights into major hydropower projects in the region.

The delegation visited the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) projects at Uri, including NHPC Uri-I and NHPC Uri-II.

At NHPC Uri-I, Shri K. Vaitheeswaran, Head of Project (HOP), welcomed the media delegation and provided an overview of the ongoing works under Stage-II of the project. The delegation was briefed about the various activities and developments associated with the project.

The delegation later visited NHPC Uri-II, where Shri Rajendra Kumar, Head of Project, welcomed the team. Officials provided an overview of the project and explained its power generation capabilities and contribution to meeting the country’s energy requirements.

The journalists also inspected the dam and gained an opportunity to understand the functioning and operational aspects of the hydroelectric project.

Later, the delegation visited Kaman Post and also had a view of Aman Setu.

The visit provided the journalists with an opportunity to gain first-hand insights into the hydropower infrastructure.

The seven-day press tour, organised by the Press Information Bureau, Kochi, aims to provide journalists from Keralam an opportunity to undertake first-hand coverage of development initiatives, infrastructure projects and achievements in Jammu and Kashmir.
