Hajin Police, ARTO Conduct Anti-Drug Drive
Hajin: Continuing its efforts to curb substance abuse, Hajin Police, in coordination with the ARTO Office Bandipora and the Health Department, conducted a comprehensive awareness-cum-enforcement drive across Hajin town and its adjoining areas under the Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan.
The drive was aimed at sensitising members of the transport fraternity about the harmful effects of drug abuse while ensuring strict enforcement at the ground level. During the drive, officials carried out on-the-spot Urine Drug Screening (UDS) tests on dozens of transporters to check substance use.
Addressing the participants, police and health officials highlighted the serious social and health consequences of addiction and stressed the need for collective responsibility to tackle the growing menace.
SHO Hajin, Mir Saleem, also interacted with transporters and urged them to play a proactive role in building a drug-free society. He cautioned that substance abuse is gradually eroding the social fabric and called for united efforts, particularly in Bandipora district, to safeguard the youth.
The programme was attended by the ARTO Bandipora, Chairman Auqaf Committee Hajin, President Traders Federation, President Gousia Sumo Stand Hajin, and officials from the Health Department.
Officials said such joint initiatives, combining awareness with enforcement, will continue in the coming days to strengthen the fight against drug abuse in the region.
