Teachers Forum Warns Against Rollback of Staff Rationalisation Drive

Bandipora, April 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum has supported the ongoing teacher rationalisation drive initiated by the Zonal Education Office Bandipora, describing it as a step towards ensuring equitable distribution of teaching staff across the district.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener, an official spokesperson said the initiative has been welcomed by parents, particularly in remote and underserved areas where schools have faced staff shortages. However, it expressed concern over resistance from a section of teachers and reported misuse of casual leave during the implementation of the process.

The Chief Spokesperson of JKTF Anjum Nisar said the forum’s position remains focused on ensuring access to quality education for all students, adding that measures aimed at strengthening educational delivery should be supported.

The forum also raised concerns over reports that attendance records of teachers could be shifted or manipulated under external pressures. It cautioned that any such actions would undermine the objectives of the rationalisation exercise and affect transparency in staff deployment.

JKTF urged teachers to adhere to professional responsibilities, particularly in serving students in far-flung areas, and called on the administration to ensure strict monitoring of attendance and prevent misuse of leave provisions.

It further stated that any rollback or cancellation of rationalisation orders under pressure would be opposed, and the forum would take appropriate steps to raise the issue with authorities.

Officials said the rationalisation drive is aimed at addressing imbalances in teacher deployment and improving access to education in areas facing shortages.
