PM Modi Reaffirms India’s “Zero Tolerance” for Terrorism Following Delhi Attack

Suhail KhanNEW DELHI, Nov. 12 ; Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed the government’s policy of “zero tolerance” towards terrorism in the wake of a deadly car explosion in the capital two days ago. The declaration was made during an emergency session of the Union Cabinet convened on Wednesday.
The blast, which occurred near the Red Fort on Monday, resulted in 10 fatalities and left 24 individuals injured, devastating the area and destroying multiple vehicles.
According to a cabinet resolution obtained by Kashmir Convener, Prime Minister Modi has directed that the investigation into the attack be conducted with the “utmost urgency and professionalism.”
He mandated that the perpetrators, along with their collaborators and sponsors, be identified and swiftly brought to justice.
“The government reaffirms its steadfast resolve to safeguard the lives and well-being of all citizens, consistent with its enduring commitment to national security,” the resolution stated, adding that the situation is being monitored at the highest levels.
In a tribute to the victims, the Cabinet observed a two-minute silence. The resolution expressed the government’s “solemn respects to the victims of this senseless act of violence” and conveyed its “heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.” It also commended the efforts of medical personnel and emergency responders.
Earlier on Wednesday, immediately upon returning from an official visit to Bhutan, Prime Minister Modi visited survivors of the attack at Delhi’s Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital.
The attack coincides with a significant counter-terrorism breakthrough. In a separate operation, authorities arrested eight individuals—including three doctors—and seized 2,900 kg of explosives after uncovering an alleged “white-collar” terror module. The network has been linked to the banned groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, with operations spanning Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Among those detained were Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, both affiliated with Al Falah University in Faridabad. A subsequent search of the university premises led to the recovery of an additional 360 kg of ammonium nitrate.
In a related development, Delhi police located a red Ford EcoSport, believed to belong to the prime suspect in the Delhi blast, Dr. Umar Un Nabi. The vehicle was found parked near Khandawali village in the Faridabad district. Investigators revealed that the suspects connected to the Hyundai i20 used in the explosion were also in possession of this car.
Meanwhile, sources indicate that a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has collected samples from Dr. Umar’s mother for detailed analysis.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formally taken over the case and formed a dedicated probe team after initial evidence pointed to a coordinated terror plot.
