Kickboxer Tajamul Islam, Emerging Bharat Foundation Honour India’s Sports Icons in Srinagar

Srinagar: The Emerging Bharat Welfare Foundation, under the leadership of Kickboxing champion Miss Tajamul Islam, Bobby Siddhu, and Mahendra Turakhia, last week hosted the third edition of its flagship event — The Sports Personality Awards 2025 — at Tagore Hall, Srinagar.

The event was held in collaboration with Tajamul Islam, world champion kickboxer and founder of Haider Sports Academy.

An official spokesperson said the ceremony was organized to honour exceptional athletes from across the country, including world champions, para-athletes, and emerging talents, who have brought pride to India through their commitment and sporting excellence.

Former Minister Usman Abdul Majid was the chief guest on the occasion while other distinguished attendees included Digant Sharma, Director – Sponsorship and CSR for the First Shree Ram Leela in Ayodhya Dhaam, and Amir Hussain Lone, captain of the J&K Para-Cricket Team.

Miss Tajamul Islam, also the Guest of Honour, was lauded for her consistent advocacy for women’s empowerment, sports education, and self-defense training for girls. As a campaign ambassador of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, she has inspired countless young women to pursue their dreams in combat sports and athletics.

Among the awardees was Mouzam Wani, a promising national-level footballer, whose story of dedication and perseverance continues to encourage young athletes in Kashmir and beyond.

The event also honoured differently-abled athletes who have excelled in their disciplines despite physical challenges. Dr. Khan Shaheena, President of the Handicapped Group, was specially recognized for her tireless contributions in empowering para-athletes.

The foundation used the occasion to announce new partnerships with several esteemed sports institutions, including: Indian Army Sports Academy, Shaheed Major Amandeep Academy, Shahi Hamdan Academy, Sopore, Martial Arts Sports Academy, Budgam, led by Coach Malik Raju

Black First Martial Arts Academy, led by Coach Bilal Ahmed Sheikh, which received special recognition and support from the Foundation.
