Slams Opportunistic Leaders for Decades of Betrayal
“Where Were You for the Last 30 Years?” Majid Asks Self-Styled Messiahs Who Misled Kashmiris
Bandipora, April 26:
Former Minister and ex-MLA Bandipora, Usman Majid, has lauded the people of Kashmir for their overwhelming unity and mature response following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener, Majid praised Kashmiris for demonstrating resilience, humanity, and an unwavering commitment to peace at a critical juncture.
Calling it a “welcome step,” he said the public reaction reflected the true spirit of Kashmir and a growing rejection of violence and misguidance.
“I am truly heartened to see how the people of Kashmir have reacted after the unfortunate incident in Pahalgam,” Majid said. “This shows that the common man is now fully aware of who truly stands with them and who has exploited their emotions for personal and political gain over the past three decades.”
Taking a sharp dig at certain political figures and parties, Majid questioned their sudden display of concern for Kashmiris. “Where were these so-called messiahs over the past 30 years when we were striving to reveal the truth and guide our people towards a better future? Where was your so-called concern when the people of Kashmir were bleeding, suffering, and yearning for real leadership?” he asked.
Majid accused these long-standing political actors of misleading the populace and dragging Kashmir into an abyss of violence, financial devastation, and political instability. “It is because of your misleading narratives and selfish agendas that Kashmiris have suffered the most — financially, socially, and emotionally,” he said. “You sowed seeds of mistrust and disillusionment, and today you come forward pretending to be the well-wishers of the very people you betrayed.”
Highlighting his consistent advocacy for peace, development, and dignity, Majid said, “We kept telling people the truth, urging them to choose the path of peace and progress, but our voices were drowned by those promoting separatism, false dreams, and violence. Now, when the damage has been done and Kashmir is suffering at every level, these opportunists emerge with hollow statements. It’s nothing but a mockery of the people’s pain.”
He concluded by urging the people of Kashmir to remain vigilant and not fall prey once again to the hollow promises and double standards of those responsible for decades of turmoil. “Stay alert. Choose wisely. The future of Kashmir depends on your vigilance,” Majid said.
