94 Cft of illicit timber seized during at Tral

TRAL, January 15: The Forest department Division Awantipora along with Wildlife department in a joint operation seized 94 Cfts Kail illicit timber in the Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The timber has been smuggled from Compartment number 37

Hajinnad area of Forest Division Awantipora, Range Officer Peerzada Arooq Shah told Kashmir Convenor.

Acting on specific inputs regarding the dumping of illicit timber, the Range Officer of Tral Peerzada Arooq Shah, along with his team and the field staff of the wildlife department, conducted a search. During the operation, they seized 94.97 Cft of Kail timber from two under-construction houses belonging to the accused persons, located at the base of wildlife compartment 37 in the Hajinnad area of Tral, he said.

We have lodged FIR number 06/2025 under section 26 IFA against the two accused persons at the Tral police station.

“Our message is to the people of forest division Awantipora to cooperate with us in saving green gold. If anyone needs timber, they should contact the department through legal means. We are already providing timber legally to poor families and others. Anyone attempting to harm green gold will face strict legal action.”
