Shopian Police Intensify Anti-Drug Drive; Illegal Assets on State Land Demolished

SHOPIAN, April 29: Continuing its sustained efforts under the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, Shopian Police in close coordination with the District Administration has intensified its crackdown against drug peddlers and associated illegal activities in the district.

In one such action, poplar trees (Populus) illegally planted on State Land by accused Inayat Lone S/o Ab Majeed Lone R/o Melhura, who is involved in NDPS cases (FIR No. 55/2013 & FIR No. 04/2026 of Police Station Zainapora), were cut down.

In another operation, four shops illegally constructed on State Land by Abdul Hamid son of Qadir Ganaie R/o Wachi, involved in FIR No. 120/2022 of Police Station Zainapora, were demolished. Both actions were carried out in the presence of SDM Zainapora and SDPO Zainapora, ensuring due legal procedure and transparency.

Initial verification revealed that the poplar trees as well as the constructed shops had been unlawfully established on State Land without proper authorization. The demolition and removal drive was conducted strictly in accordance with legal provisions, reaffirming the firm resolve of Shopian Police to act against drug peddlers and dismantle illegal assets linked to narcotics-related activities.

Shopian Police reiterates its unwavering commitment to eradicate the menace of drug abuse and urges the general public to cooperate and share any information related to drug trafficking, thereby contributing towards building a drug-free society.
