SHOPIAN, June 25: Continuing its sustained efforts to eradicate the drug menace under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Shopian Police in collaboration with local residents, conducted a special anti-narcotics drive in the Melhura area of the district.

During the special drive, police teams conducted a thorough survey of the Melhura area and found wild cannabis plants growing naturally over approximately 7 kanals of barren land. The identified plants were uprooted and destroyed on the spot to prevent their potential misuse for narcotic purposes.

The initiative forms part of the ongoing efforts of Shopian Police under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan to eliminate potential sources of narcotic substances and promote a drug-free society.

Shopian Police appeals to the general public to remain vigilant and report any instances of illegal cultivation, drug trafficking, or substance abuse to the nearest police station. The district police remain committed to realizing the vision of a Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir through sustained preventive measures, public participation and strict enforcement of the law.
