Shopian Police Act Against Illegal Extraction of Minerals; 05 Vehicles Seized, 02 FIRs Registered

SHOPIAN, May 18: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, Shopian Police seized two JCB, two tractors and one tipper involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from Zaniapora and Imamsahib areas of the district.

During routine patrolling, a police team from Police Station Zainapora intercepted and seized one JCB and one Tipper at involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without valid royalty documents. In this regard, FIR No. 76/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been set into motion.

In a similar action, police party from Police Station Imamsahib intercepted one JCB and two tractors engaged in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without mandatory permission. In this regard FIR No. 35/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered in Police Station Imamsahib and investigation has been initiated.

Shopian Police reiterates its firm commitment to protecting the district’s natural resources and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in illegal mining. The general public is urged to cooperate by reporting any such unlawful activities. The identity of informants shall be kept strictly confidential.
