Shopian, August 01: Bilal Ahmad, JKAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Zainapora, today visited the areas in Sub-Division Zainapora hit by the cloudburst, especially Mohanpora in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, to assess the damage and oversee relief operations.
The cloudburst, which struck early in the morning, damaged several houses and household belongings including food supplies, bedding and other essential items. No loss of life or injuries were reported.
For the safety of students, Primary School Mohanpora was closed.
Families residing along the Nallah and nomadic families living on the river banks were shifted to safer locations. Shelter charts have been prepared for the nomadic families.
During his visit, the SDM interacted with the affected families and assured them of all possible assistance. He stated that a proper assessment of losses is being conducted and adequate relief and rehabilitation will be extended to all affected families.
The entire relief and rehabilitation process is being monitored on a minute-to-minute basis and all necessary assistance will be provided.
