PULWAMA, August 20: A young woman from Tamulhal Pulwama, holding a Master’s degree in Economics, is setting an inspiring example of how government support can help educated youth turn their ideas into successful livelihood ventures and become job creators.

Shahida Ayoub, a resident of Tamulhal Pulwama, has ventured into modern agriculture with assistance under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). She is utilising the support to develop her agri-business, demonstrating how educated youth can explore entrepreneurship and build sustainable livelihoods through agriculture.

Shahida is cultivating and harvesting different varieties of vegetables, particularly cucumber, in her polyhouse. With modern farming practices, she is earning a good income and turning her agricultural venture into a sustainable source of livelihood.

Her journey from a beneficiary of a government scheme to an emerging entrepreneur is not only helping her become financially self-reliant but is also creating employment opportunities for others.

Shahida said that educated youth should look beyond government jobs and consider establishing their own business units after completing their studies.

She said entrepreneurship can provide young people with an opportunity to earn a livelihood, become financially independent and create employment for others instead of waiting for limited government job opportunities.

Shahida appealed to the youth to make full use of government schemes and support programmes aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment. She encouraged young people to convert their skills, education and ideas into viable enterprises.

Her success story reflects the potential of agriculture-based entrepreneurship and sends an encouraging message to the youth of the region—to become job creators rather than merely job seekers.
