Srinagar, Sep 21: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Sunil Sharma on Monday accused the National Conference-led government of running away from serious public issues instead of giving clear answers and solutions in the House, and asserted that the BJP will not remain silent on matters affecting the people.
Raising the concerns of NHM employees, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, GRS, technical staff and daily wagers on the floor of the House, Sharma as per Kashmir Convener said the BJP had strongly flagged questions over employment, outsourcing, regularisation and the future prospects of thousands of families dependent on these jobs.
“The concerns of these sections cannot be brushed aside, particularly when thousands of families depend on these employment opportunities for their livelihoods,” he said.
The Leader of Opposition also raised the issue of increased power tariffs, saying rising electricity costs were putting additional pressure on household budgets and affecting ordinary families across Jammu and Kashmir.
“When genuine public concerns are raised in the Assembly, it is the responsibility of the government to provide clear answers. The Opposition will continue to raise the voice of the people and seek accountability from the government,” Sharma said.
He said employees and workers from different sectors have repeatedly raised concerns regarding their service conditions and employment security, while the youth are seeking meaningful employment opportunities, and demanded that the government come forward with a clear roadmap instead of avoiding these issues.
Sunil Sharma also referred to the concerns of cooperative bank victims, saying affected people continue to seek relief and resolution of their grievances.
“The BJP will not remain silent on issues affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir. As a responsible Opposition, we will continue to question the government, demand answers and ensure that the concerns of the people reach the floor of the House. Our commitment is to the people and their legitimate concerns,” the LoP said.
Sunil Sharma reiterated that the Opposition would continue to discharge its constitutional and democratic responsibility with integrity, commitment and courage, and seek accountability from the government on matters concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
