Pampore, September 14: A bridge constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 4.9 crore over Ramshoo Nallah at Lelhara area of Kakapora in Pulwama district was inaugurated by MLA Pampore Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi on Monday.
The bridge is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Lelhar and adjoining villages, providing easier access to thousands of residents and reducing difficulties faced by people in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Masoodi said the bridge was a long-pending demand of the people and would strengthen road connectivity between several areas.
He said the project would provide greater convenience to the local population and contribute to the overall development and socio-economic growth of the area.
Masoodi said the NC government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, was committed to ensuring balanced development and improving infrastructure and public facilities across Jammu and Kashmir.
He expressed hope that the newly inaugurated bridge would facilitate the movement of people and goods, boost socio-economic activities and provide better connectivity to residents of Lelhar and adjoining areas.
Speaking to Media, Pampore and former Justice Hasnain Masoodi said the newly constructed bridge at Lelhar, built at a cost of around Rs 4 crore, will provide major relief to residents of Lelhar, Banderpora, Hajibal and adjoining villages.
Masoodi said the bridge will significantly improve connectivity between the Kakapora areas and the National Highway, making movement easier for the local population.
He said several road connectivity projects worth around Rs 45crore are currently under construction in the Pampore Assembly constituency, describing the ongoing works as an important achievement for the area.
Masoodi further said that another bridge connecting Lelhar with Alochibagh has been proposed and will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore.
He also said a proposal has been made for construction of another bridge at Kandizal to connect the area with Galander.
Highlighting the need for better connectivity during floods, Masoodi said the areas frequently face the threat of flooding, during which roads often remain submerged, leaving residents and livestock without proper access routes.
He said the proposed bridges over the Jhelum would serve as alternative access routes during emergencies, particularly during floods, ensuring that people can safely reach and move their livestock to safer areas.
