Locals question retention of ‘over-staying’ R&B officials in Bandipora
Bandipora, Jan 13: Days after Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department shifted nearly seven thousand employees to enhance transparency and efficiency, questions have been raised in Bandipora regarding the exclusion of long-serving officials from the transfer list.
Several contractors while talking to Kashmir Convener said the transfers aimed to optimise the department's functionality, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and enhance accountability and said that People hoped it will bring more transparency and efficiency to the R&B Department, addressing concerns about nepotism and favouritism. “Despite overall support, residents in Bandipora question why certain officials in the R&B Division were excluded from the transfer”.
They demanded early identification and transfer of such officials to ensure transparency in the department. “Over staying of employees at one office leads to development of ulterior motives that reduce the efficiency of the department besides affecting the reputation of the department”
According to the locals, the retention of officials stationed in Bandipora offices for more than one decade fifteen years has sparked a public debate about them being ‘’ are now facing local scrutiny, with residents expressing a desire for answers on why theblue eyed’ or having ulterior motives.
Locals said the Chief Engineer, whose commitment to bringing about positive changes within the department has been evident since taking office, initiated the large-scale transfer with the goal of optimising the department's functionality. “The move is seen as a step towards minimising bureaucratic hurdles, improving accountability, and injecting a fresh wave of efficiency into the system,” several concerned citizens including contractors told Kashmir Convener.
Locals appealed the Chief Engineer to identify and transfer such officials besides call for an inquiry as to how they missed from the majorre shuffle.
