Jammu, Apr 4: A delegation from the J&K Ex-Services League (JKESL), the oldest government-recognized body for veterans in the region, met with Major General Anupinder Bevli, VSM, Additional Director General of NCC Directorate Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, to discuss enhanced collaboration for cadet training and community engagement.

The JKESL team, led by its president Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Sharma, AVSM, SM (Retd), included Col Rajinder Singh, General Secretary, and Lt Col O.S. Chouhan, Secretary. The meeting took place at the NCC Directorate office in Jammu on April 3.

During the interaction, the JKESL projected key proposals to strengthen ties between the NCC and the veteran community. These included greater participation of NCC cadets in JKESL-organized commemorative events such as the Martyrdom Day and birth anniversaries of military icons like Gen Zorawar Singh, known as “the Napoleon of India,” and Brig Rajinder Singh, hailed as “the Saviour of Kashmir.”

The delegation also sought collaboration in sharing cadet training schedules and requested support for organizing motivational lectures by gallantry awardees and war veterans based on their personal experiences.

Maj Gen Bevli responded positively to the proposals and assured full cooperation, emphasizing the importance of building strong linkages between serving cadets and retired personnel to inspire future generations of youth.

Founded in 1951 by Brig Ghansara Singh, RB, OBE, OBI, JKESL currently has over 22,000 members and remains committed to the welfare of veterans, Veer Naris, and serving soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir.
