New Delhi, July 16: The Indian Navy will host Operation Southern Readiness 26-2, a four-day multinational maritime training engagement, at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi from July 20 to 23 in partnership with the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).

According to the Ministry of Defence, the programme will be conducted under the aegis of the Indian Navy-led Combined Task Force 154 (CTF 154), the CMF’s dedicated training task force.

The exercise will bring together personnel from CMF partner nations to enhance maritime security cooperation through professional training, practical exposure and the exchange of best practices.

The training programme will include classroom sessions, simulator-based instruction and practical exercises covering a range of maritime security subjects. These include maritime law, maritime domain awareness and information sharing, counter-narcotics operations, force protection, asymmetric threats and maritime uncrewed systems.

Participants will also receive hands-on training in damage control and firefighting, maritime communications, survival at sea, boarding procedures and onboard operations aboard an Indian naval ship.

The Indian Navy said the exercise will showcase the Southern Naval Command’s modern training infrastructure, advanced simulators and instructional capabilities. The integration of theoretical learning with practical application is aimed at improving interoperability, professional understanding and operational cooperation among participating nations.

The Navy said its continued association with the Combined Maritime Forces, a multinational maritime partnership comprising more than 40 countries, reflects India’s contribution to regional capacity building and collective maritime security.

The hosting of Operation Southern Readiness 26-2 at Kochi also reinforces the role of the Southern Naval Command as a key training establishment for the Indian Navy and highlights India’s growing role in multinational maritime training and professional naval engagement.
