Indian Army Organises Anti-Drug Awareness Run in Ratnipora Under NMBA

Pulwama, May 20: In a bid to spread awareness among youth and the local population about the harmful effects of drug abuse and substance addiction, the 50 Rashtriya Rifles of 5 Sector, Indian Army on Tuesday organised a “Drug-Free Kashmir Awareness Run” at Ratnipora in collaboration with Higher Secondary School Ratnipora under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

The event was conducted in a well-coordinated and secure environment and witnessed enthusiastic participation from Army personnel, students, teachers and members of the local community.

The awareness run was organised with the objective of sensitising youth about the dangerous impact of drug addiction on individuals, families and society, while simultaneously promoting physical fitness, discipline and social responsibility.

The run commenced from Samboora Cricket Ground and culminated at Higher Secondary School Ratnipora, covering a distance of around five kilometres.

During the programme, participants were encouraged to channelise their energy towards sports, education and constructive activities contributing to personal growth and nation-building.

The event also served as a platform to spread the message of unity, peace and collective responsibility against the growing menace of drug abuse.

Around 165 youth actively participated in the awareness run along with teachers, school representatives, local residents and Army personnel.

The initiative witnessed active involvement and appreciation from people belonging to different sections of society, reflecting strong community support towards the anti-drug campaign.

Officials said the programme provided an effective platform for youth engagement and motivated young people to remain involved in positive, disciplined and nation-building pursuits.

The event also encouraged interaction between Army personnel, students and local residents, thereby fostering mutual trust, confidence and understanding.

Locals appreciated the Indian Army for taking the initiative to promote a healthy lifestyle, awareness against drug abuse and a sense of social responsibility among the youth.
