Illegal Poppy Cultivation Destroyed During Joint Anti-Drug Operation in Hajin

Bandipora, April 27: A joint team of the Police, Revenue, Agriculture and Excise departments destroyed illegally cultivated poppy crops during an anti-narcotics operation in the Hajin area of Bandipora district as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.
Officials said the operation was conducted in coordination among multiple departments to identify and act against unlawful cultivation of narcotic substances in the area.
During the drive, illegally cultivated poppy crops were detected and destroyed on the spot in accordance with provisions of the law, officials added.
Police said a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 57/2026 at the concerned police station under Sections 8/18 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities said further investigation has been initiated to identify the individuals involved and determine the extent of the illegal cultivation.
Officials added that strict legal action would be taken against those found responsible for involvement in narcotics-related activities.
The operation was carried out under the ongoing anti-drug campaign aimed at curbing cultivation, trafficking and abuse of narcotic substances in the district.
